These cheesy Cheddar Apple Tarts are a savory treat perfect for fall parties, Friendsgiving gatherings, or Thanksgiving.

But because they are so easy to make, they are the perfect addition to a weeknight meal or even a weekend snack!

I love creating new recipes while making family memories together, especially in the fall and Christmas season.

Some of my fondest memories involve food, specifically around this time of year.

Although, to be honest, sometimes the food never makes it to the table because we are having so much fun eating it and making memories in the kitchen.

Over the last several years, I have made some very special memories cooking and baking with our son.

And he especially loves snacking on the extras as we create yummy, sweet, and savory treats together.

And I hope your family enjoys these Cheddar Apple Tarts as much as my family does!

These cheesy Cheddar Apple Tarts are a savory treat perfect for fall parties, Friendsgiving gatherings, or Thanksgiving.

  • Author: Giustina Miller
  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: *3

Ingredients

Scale
  • Puff Pastry, room temperature
  • 12 Cups White Cheddar, shredded
  • 23 Apples, depending on the size of the apples
  • 12 Tablespoons Butter

Toppings

  • Fresh Thyme
  • Flaky Sea Salt
  • Honey

Instructions

1. First, preheat your oven to 400°F.

2. Next, cut the room temperature puff pastry into circles using a biscuit cutter*(1) and create stems and leaves with the extra puff pastry to attach to each puff pastry circle.

3. Place the puff pastry circles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and place a puff pastry stem and puff pastry leaf slightly under each puff pastry circle.

4. Next, place the shredded cheese in the center of each circle.

5. Thinly slice the apples and place them on top of the cheese in the center of the puff pastry, fanned out to give it a 3D effect. I placed 2 large apple slices, then 2 medium apple slices, and finally 2 smaller apple slices on each one.

6. Brush each Cheddar Apple Tart with melted butter.

7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden.*(2)

8. Once baked, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, fresh thyme, and a drizzle of honey. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. My biscuit cutter is ~3 inches.
  2. Don’t worry if the cheese and apple start to slide off while baking, mine did too! Once finished baking, simply place the cheesy apples back on top of the puff pastry circle.
  3. The number of Cheddar Apple Tarts will depend on how close together you cut the puff pastry circles.
