5 Ways to Read Through the Bible in the New Year to help you discover more Biblical treasures while drawing closer to Christ.

I remember when I first started studying my Bible in middle school and being so excited to learn more.

20+ years later I am still finding so many treasures as I read through the Bible.

One of my favorite ways to read through my Bible is to read an Old Testament and New Testament book at the same time.

I remember as a child being so excited to randomly come across similar texts and concepts while reading from both sides of the Bible.

And while reading through the Bible in a year is a wonderful challenge, I love to take my time and really dive into what I’m reading.

Currently, I am reading the bible alphabetically (A-Z) and am at the end of Psalms.

And I plan to read the Bible chronologically next.

There are numerous ways to read through the Bible, but I narrowed them down to my top 5 Ways to Read Through the Bible in the New Year.

ps. I highly recommend finding a study partner or accountability partner to encourage you on your journey as you read through the Bible!

1. Chronological

Something so interesting about the Bible is that it is not compiled chronologically.

So if you’ve read through the Bible many times, or are just getting started, a fun way to read it is by the time periods they were written chronologically.

2. A-Z or Z-A

If you are looking for a new way to read the Bible that doesn’t have any particular historical order, reading the Bible alphabetically A-Z or Z-A is a fun option.

You’ll get to read a mix of old and new Testaments throughout the year and you never know what you are going to discover next.

3. Genesis to Revelation

Of course, the most common way to read through the Bible is straight through starting in Genesis and ending in Revelation.

You can take your time doing this or dedicate one year to reading it all.

4. Divided by 365, 52, or 12

If you want to create your own reading plan you can open your Bible, see how many pages it has, and then divide it by 365, 52, or 12.

Dividing by 365 will tell you how many pages to read in a day, by 52 to see how many pages you need to read a week, or by 12 to see how many pages to read each month.

5. With an Organized Reading Plan

There are so many reading plans out there that you can download, print, and keep with your Bible.

And if you are looking for a reading plan to help you read the Bible in a year, I highly recommend this one by Amazing Facts.

Some fun things about this reading plan are that:

  • You can start at any time.
  • Each month has 25 days of reading, giving you extra days to catch up if needed.
  • Each day includes passages from the Old and New Testaments, helping to reinforce the incredible unity of the Scriptures.
