I’m in love with how these 4th of July Napkin Candles turned out!

Over the last 6 months, I’ve tried a couple of techniques using a variety of napkins for different holidays and seasons to create fun seasonal candle decor.

I always use my flameless candle hack so that I can use them again year after year.

You can see that I lit the candles, to create a candle wax memory so that there would be a spot for the tealight flameless candle to perfectly fit inside (alternatively you can scoop out the wax with a knife and/or spoon).

I’ve had some people try out my tutorials on regular flameless candles, and it’s worked, but it’s important that you use a real wax flameless candle so that the napkin has something to melt into.

While you can use a hair dryer instead of an iron, I personally prefer using an iron as I feel like the blowdryer can spread/blow wax where it’s not wanted and an iron has more heat control.

After each season/holiday, I remove the flameless tealight candle, store the decorative candle, and then reuse the flameless tea light candles on the next set of napkin candles.

And while we aren’t hosting an Independence Day party this year (as our house isn’t finished being built yet), I can’t wait to use these to decorate for our 4th of July party next year!

Instructions:

1. First, cut the napkin to the size of the candle (height and circumference) and remove the inner layer of the napkin. I used 2 of the Happy Fourth of July napkins (one on the front & one on the back of the candle) for the large candle and 1 firework napkin for the smaller candle

2. Place the outer napkin with the print facing out around the candle.

3. Wrap a piece of wax paper around the candle.

4. Carefully/quickly iron the candle so that the heat melts the wax just enough to be absorbed into the napkin. (I’ve had the iron set at 3, 4, & 6 at different times. The hotter it’s set the faster the candle will melt into the napkin, the lower it’s set the longer it will take for the candle to melt into the napkin.)

5. Continue this process around the entire candle. Then slowly remove the wax paper from the candle. For the Happy Fourth of July napkins I did the above steps on one side, removed the wax paper, and then repeated the process on the other side of the candle with a second Happy Fourth of July napkin.

6. After the wax paper is removed, use the iron to touch up any areas as needed. (While the iron is still hot, carefully wipe off any wax drops on the iron using the leftover inner layer of the napkin and discard.)

7. Follow my flameless candle hack so you can use a flameless candle within your real candle.

8. Enjoy your new 4th of July Napkin Candles year after year with the flameless candle hack.
