A little life lately sharing about how we sold our house along with a few other life updates.

We have been keeping a big secret… We sold our house!
Earlier this year we quietly put our house on the market.
When we were building our house we knew there was a chance we would be selling within 5 years of building it.
And since moving in our lives have changed so many times and we are very different versions of who we were when we built.
During our time in this home, we were childless, hoping to adopt (we went through the process for domestic adoption), foster parents (with the goal of reunification), and bio parents.
Roger was out of work for months in 2020 (as were so many others), he lost his investment, then was completely out of work (sometimes doing what’s right -ethically & morally- means taking a loss financially), then he got a new job, and then he decided to go down to 1 day a week in order to help me grow my business.
My business went from a little over 50,000 followers when we moved in with me being able to contribute minimally to our finances, to over 750,000 followers (across my social media pages) with the help of Roger after he joined our business as my marketing manager.
It’s been both a whirlwind and a huge blessing!

During this time we felt God tugging on our hearts to make big changes, to go smaller, and to get out of debt.
This year we began praying that God’s will be done, and if it be His will that we sell our house that we would have peace when the right buyers came along.
During this time we had several interested buyers, but when the right family came along we knew this house was meant for them.
And if you watched the video of me decorating our house for the 4th of July, that day was a whirlwind.
Not only did the buyers come for a second showing that morning, but we had our big annual 4th of July party that evening.
I’m not going to share any personal details to be considerate of both their and our privacy (and why I feel this house was made for them) or who they are (although they are public figures), but I am so happy that they are a young family who was able to purchase the house (and part of the land) without going into debt.
Now we are working on getting ourselves completely out of debt and our hope/dream is to build a new house, almost 1/2 the size of this one without going into debt.
It’s ambitious, but we can’t have a dream come true unless we first have a dream… And then a lot of hard work, sweat, most likely some tears, and then much more work.

If you read our post last fall about Roger’s hope to leave dentistry, you know that we are now in the position for Roger to do that if/when he decides it is the right time for our family.
But he isn’t sure he is ready yet, it’s such a big step.
God blessed the leap of faith we took last year when he went down to just 1 day a week, in order to work full-time with my business. He blessed this decision more than we could have ever imagined was possible, more than our wildest dreams could have dreamt.
And now that we have sold our house we are praying that God gives us wisdom and guidance on when he should fully retire from dentistry, the land we should buy, and the new home we should build for our family (and also that our family will grow in His timing).
When we shared with our family that our house was under contract my parents immediately offered for us to move in with them, for however long it would take for us to find land and build. They have been incredibly welcoming and gone way beyond what we could have hoped for support and help during this process!
So we are currently building out a small kitchen in their mother-in-law suite and creating a cozy little home within their home, for our family while we look for land to build on.

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise. Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

I’m so proud of you for deciding to downsize. I was born in the 50’s and we had a very small rancher for the 6 of us. No need for the sprawling homes. Can’t wait to see what you build. ❤️
Thank you so much for your kindness!
