5 last minute date night at home tips to help you have a memorable & romantic date night in the comfort of your own home.
Can you believe the holidays are over and a new year has already begun? If you are like me, you may already be struggling to keep your New Year’s resolutions alive.
The only resolution I have ever had any success at keeping is one that I made 6 and 1/2 years ago when I made a commitment to my sweet husband and resolved to love him as I had never loved another human.
But before I get too mushy on you all (hey Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!), let’s skip straight to the reason you are here.

Thursday has typically been our day for date nights, but I’m thinking I may want to switch it up this year by having more date nights each week at home.
And while that may sound like more work to some people, I know that date night at home can be just as relaxing and even more cozy!

1. Theme & Activity
The first step is to decide on the focus of your date night at home.
Your theme could be movie night with a movie marathon, or an activity, such as a game night.
These are two of my personal favorites, so I’m going to focus on them moving forward, but you could also have a DIY night, a painting night, or any other hobby or activity that you enjoy together.
2. Setting
Once you know what you want to do during your date night at home, you can decide where you want to host your date night.
You could choose to have your movie marathon in bed, or under the stars with a portable projector and a movie screen made from a white sheet.
And if you choose to have a game night, you could do this in your living room on a cozy rug or soft blanket, or even outside on your front porch or back deck.
I decided on our living room for the setting. I moved a small table in front of our couch and it was so easy to set with games, finger food, and Vanity Fair® Extra Absorbent Napkins.
3. Candles & Music
Thirdly, to add a romantic atmosphere, you can choose your favorite scented candles and music to match your theme.
I have a bit of a candle obsession, so I always have a few nearby to be lit at the last minute.
4. Tablescape for Two
Creating a romantic dinner tablescape for two is super simple.

If you feel like kicking it up a notch, you could even create a cheese and chocolate fondue date night!
