Cooler fall weather is here and I can’t wait to start wearing cozy cute fall clothes!
As I was putting away my summer outfits and bringing down my fall clothing I realized that I didn’t have very many fall outfits.
I love cleaning out my closet at the end of every season and donating what I didn’t wear, and I realized a few weeks ago my fall wardrobe was pretty slim.
And while this hasn’t been a big deal in years past because I work from home, I know that once we start getting foster care placements I will be leaving the house on a much more regular basis.
But since most of my paycheck has gone towards getting things we need for our future foster children, I knew I needed to find things that were pretty inexpensive.
So I decided to do some fun online shopping with the goal of not ordering anything that was over $9.99 (free shipping, not including tax).

I ended up ordering 16 items knowing that I would probably return half of them.
And I was right!
8 items are being returned because they were either too big, too small, or just looked hilarious on me.
Luckily, the 8 items I kept only totaled $69.53 (free shipping, not including tax), which means each item averaged $8.69.
The 8 items I kept include this Green Sweater, Long Sleeve Black Dress, Circle Plaid Scarf, Off The Shoulder Sweater, Dark Grey Long Sleeve Top, Faux Suede Skirt, Black Waffle Knit Long Sleeves Sweater, and V-Neck Ruffle Blouse.

I’ve pretty much already decided that my go-to mom outfit this fall and winter is going to be the black leggings (that are in most of the pictures) paired with a sweater.
Because honestly, I pretty much already wear these leggings on repeat.
I bought a set of 3 last fall and I wear them so much Roger ordered me a set of 3 this year, so now I have enough to make it through 6 of the 7 days each week!
Yes, I’m that addicted to these buttery soft leggings.
I’m totally not just saying that!
My sister had heard me say it so many times over the last year and on the 4th of July, I lent her a pair to wear during the firework show and movie.
And she exclaimed, “They really are buttery soft!”

I wish I could say that I can now sit back and enjoy reading in all of these cute and inexpensive fall outfits, but there is too much work to be done.
Between trying to get as many blog posts scheduled before our first placement to working on completing our basement on the weekends, we have a very busy fall ahead of us.
But since we had a very slow spring and summer, I’m ready for a busier change of pace.

I know so much of our lives are about to change so I’ve been trying to figure out how I can streamline my work, what I can cut out, and what I can keep.
Recently I discovered that I’ve been posting 2+ times as some of the other bloggers I follow.
I started counting how many blog posts other bloggers were sharing and I noticed it was between 5-7 times a month.
Normally I aim for between 10-14 blog posts a month.
Last week I was working on my 2021 blog post schedule and I realized that I have 3 posts planned for each week next year (minus Thanksgiving and Christmas break).
YIKES!
That’s way too much with how unpredictable our life will become with foster care.

While I do plan to continue posting every week, I think I may try to back it down to 2 times a week, depending on what is going on in our home any given week.
I love to-do lists and schedules, but I know so much of our life is going to be unpredictable in the future, and I am trying my best to let go and be flexible.
Although we currently have no idea when we will be officially licensed or have our first placement, we are doing our best to be ready in the wait.
And now my closet is ready for all of the parent visits, doctor appointments, caseworker home visits, court dates, therapy sessions, or any other appointments that may come our way!
