5 Tips for a Relaxing Weekend in Paris for a slow and memorable experience in France.

I love Paris.
We’ve only visited twice, but it’s my favorite city that we’ve been to thus far.
During our first trip to Paris in 2017 we did all of the things.
We had so much fun tasting, seeing, and experiencing everything that we could during our stay in Paris!
During our last visit to Europe, we started and ended our trip to Switzerland in Paris (so technically we’ve visited Paris 3 times, but I’m still counting it as two times) and did things a little differently.
While we did visit some touristy places, we also tried to slow it down a bit so that we could enjoy Paris more like a local.
So I thought it would be fun to share with you how we slowed things down a bit to have a more relaxing weekend in Paris!

1. Adjust Your Mindset
I feel like it is so important that you go into your relaxing weekend in Paris with the mindset of living slowly and purposefully.
You’ll then have a way easier time adjusting from the normal tourist adrenaline of seeing everything to having a more relaxed vacation mindset.
2. Plan Minimally
I am a big planner when it comes to traveling and while I still plan for a relaxing weekend, I plan minimally.
That could easily mean two different things, that could mean that you do minimal planning, or that you plan to do a minimal amount of things.
I opt for the latter, planning to do a minimal amount of things.
I still like to plan for when and where we will be so that we don’t find ourselves racing across the city multiple times.
Then we are better able to enjoy everything where we are, before moving to another part of the city.
You could plan to spend all of your time one day in and around the Louvre, another around the Eiffel Tower, or even Versailles.

3. Enjoy Long and Leisurely Meals
Here in the US you can sometimes feel rushed to eat, pay, and leave so that the restaurant can turn over the table to other guests.
One of the things I love about Europe is the ability to indulge in long and leisurely meals.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view and the company you are with.
4. Spend Time in a Public Park
During one leisurely afternoon in Paris, we chose to spend our time just sitting in a park, among the locals, simply enjoying the cool breeze.
There are green metal chairs in all of the parks so that you can relax while reading, drawing, painting, or catching up with friends.
We had so much fun just relaxing for an hour or two watching a tiny corner of Paris slowly drift by.

5. Allow Yourself Time & Grace to Soak it All In
I know the desire to see, taste, and do everything can be very intense, along with the FOMO.
Be sure to give yourself a break and not let the pressures of social media or picture proof get in the way of being able to enjoy your relaxing weekend in Paris.
I hope you enjoyed these little tips for a relaxing weekend in Paris!
