This summer is our 11-year wedding anniversary!

If you’ve been around since I started blogging in 2013 then you may recall that my mom and I (with a whole lot of help from friends and family) did a plethora of DIYs for our backyard wedding.

From book paper wreaths to DIY doily cones filled with popcorn and nuts as a pre-wedding treat (if you do a deep dive on my blog you’ll find many of these crazy old and poorly photographed tutorials).

And if you haven’t quite guessed, it was very much so your typical shabby chic backyard wedding, which was all the rage in the early 2010s.

But I will admit, my mom went all out with the decor (we did a lot of antiquing) and my father spent countless hours working on their yard.

While my style has greatly changed since the days of shabby chic, I still have a love for glass jars (with a very large collection hidden in different cabinets and containers).

And while we used real candles in the jars at our wedding/reception (the base was filled with sand), I decided to opt for battery tea light candles this time around along with some fresh flowers.

Which way is your favorite? Do you like these glass jars filled with candles, flowers, or both?

1. First, cut a piece of twine approximately 3.5-4 feet long.

2. Next, tie a knot between the two ends to make one loop. (Image 1)

3. Place the twine on the counter, and create a hoop at the base with the knot at the center of the cross. (Image 2)

4. Set the glass jar on top of the knot and check to see if the hoop is long enough to reach the top of the jar, just under the lip. (Image 3)

5. Next, add a dot of hot glue between the twine where it crosses over each other to secure it in place. (Image 4)

6. Place the mason jar back on top of the cross of the hoop and take hold of the big hoop of twine. (Image 5-6)

7. Take the top of the hoop and place it under and through the little hoop and pull until there are three little hoops around the jar. (Images 1-3)

8. With the large hoop still in your hand, pull it up and over the jar. (Images 4-5)

9. Position your hands next to the jar. (Image 6)

10. Push the outer twine under the small hoops (on the left and right) and pull the twine upward. (Images 1-3)

11. Keep pulling until tight. You may have to wiggle while pulling them in order to make them tight around the jar. (Images 4-5)

12. Optional, add a few dots of hot glue under the rim of the glass jar to secure the twine to the jar.

13. Fill with fresh flowers and/or battery-operated tea candles.

14. Hang outside (or inside) and enjoy!
