Last month we celebrated Roger’s 30th birthday.

And as this is a special number I really wanted to throw him an extra special birthday party.

Months before his birthday I started asking him what kind of party he wanted.

I’m all about those themed parties.

And since leaving your 20’s is an official sign that you are fully an adult he decided it would be fun to have a party full of his childhood favorites.

That made the menu easy: pizza, root beer, chips, a veggie tray, and an ice cream cake.

Next up was decor.

I went to a few stores and didn’t find a whole lot of decor so I decided to start getting creative.

A quick search online for the top kid’s movies in the 1990s was all I needed for inspiration.

I decided to focus on decor from 3 movies; Toy Story, Home Alone, and Jurassic Park.

Although I also added some Star Wars and Beanie Baby decor along with a big box of Legos for the kids to play with too.

I looked up each movie on Pinterest (with searches like “Toy Story party decor,” “Home Alone party decor,” and “Jurassic Park party decor”) and found a whole lot of inspiration.

When I saw the “thirsty for more” quote I instantly knew that I needed to decorate the soda bar with Home Alone and Christmas decor.

I typed up the quote and printed it and then found a picture of Buzz’s girlfriend to print and frame also.

I dug into our Christmas decor and pulled out some small antique ornaments, the real glass kind as a nod to the ornament scene in Home Alone.

While searching for party decor I found these honeycomb Toy Story Pizza Planet aliens and since we planned to have pizza at the party it only made sense to turn the kitchen island into a Toy Story theme.

I printed off a pizza planet sign, a free printable of Woody and the gang that I found online, and I also made an Al’s Cheese Puffs sign.

Little green army men were an easy find and I saw them at pretty much every store I visited while looking for party decor.

Last up was Jurassic Park.

I found a dinosaur piñata and green streamers and I did my best to have a little bit of a nod to the Jurassic Park theme.

I also found some $1 dinosaurs and added them to the decor.

As we don’t have a lot of toys in our home yet, and we had 12 kids coming to the party, I used an electric balloon blower to blow up 20-30 balloons.

The kids loved playing with them and hiding them around our house.

All in all, everyone said they had a wonderful time and Roger came home completely surprised by all of the birthday party decor.
