DIY Beach Cinnamon Rolls

Sharing is caring!

These DIY Beach Cinnamon Rolls are so fun to make for your family or a beach party this summer with cinnamon roll-shaped seashells, turtles, and starfish!

These diy beach cinnamon rolls are such a fun way to celebrate summer with your family.

I had so much fun making 2 seashells, 2 turtles, and a starfish out of a can of cinnamon rolls (although you can definitely make them out of homemade cinnamon rolls, too!).

I topped them with a colorful homemade icing to make them extra fun for summer.

And because I love sprinkles and sparkles, I couldn’t help but add some edible glitter and pearl sprinkles on top too.

To complete the look, I made some edible “sand” for the beach cinnamon rolls to sit on top before my son and I dove into them.

(Did you catch my water pun?)

I hope you have fun making seashell cinnamon rolls, turtle cinnamon rolls, and starfish cinnamon rolls this summer!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. First, preheat your oven to the temperature it says on the packaging of your cinnamon rolls, and then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open your cinnamon rolls, place the icing to the side, and pull out all of the cinnamon rolls.
  3. Unwind each cinnamon roll and reshape it into a seashell, turtle, and star shape on the parchment paper.*
    • For the shell, I unwound and carefully stretched the dough so it would be long enough to create the shell shape.
    • For the turtle, I unwound the cinnamon roll partway and cut pieces off of it to create the head and 4 legs.
    • For the star, I unwound the cinnamon roll completely to create the shape of the star and pinched the 5 corners to make more of a star shape.
  4. Bake the cinnamon rolls according to their packaging instructions.
  5. While the cinnamon rolls are baking, open up the OREOs, remove the filling, and crush them with a small food processor. Once crushed, so that it looks like sand, set it to the side.
  6. Then make your icing, place it in 3 small bowls, and add food coloring to dye it blue, pink, and orange.
  7. Once baked, let cool slightly, then add your icing and sprinkles.
  8. Sprinkle the cookie “sand” on a platter or parchment paper, top with your beach cinnamon rolls, and enjoy!

Notes

  • It’s important to squish the cinnamon rolls together before baking so that they keep their shape while baking
