Valentine’s Heart Brownie

Sharing is caring!

This Valentine’s Heart Brownie is a fun way to decorate a brownie with frosting, fruit, heart macaroons, chocolate, mint, and edible glitter.

I had so much fun decorating this Valentine’s Heart Brownie!

When I first started planning this little Valentine’s sweet treat, I picked up some regular French macarons from the grocery store.

But then I found heart-shaped French macarons at two different grocery stores!

I ended up getting a package from both because I wasn’t sure how many I would need.

Both sets were delicious and very similar in taste to each other.

This Valentine’s Heart Brownie would be so fun at a Galentine’s party with all your girlfriends, for dessert on Valentine’s Day to enjoy with your family, or even as a special dessert for a date night at home.

This heart-shaped dessert was so fun and easy to create, you could even have your kids help you make it this Valentine’s!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. First, preheat the oven according to your brownie box instructions, then spray a heart-shaped cake pan*2 with spray oil.
  2. Mix both (1) brownie mixes and pour them into the heart-shaped cake pan.
  3. Bake according to the package instructions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. *(3)
  4. Once the brownie has baked and cooled, remove it from the heart pan*(4) and place it on a piece of parchment paper.*(5)
  5. With the brownie upside down on the parchment paper, place a large heart cookie cutter in the center and press down to cut out a second, smaller heart, leaving a hole in the center.
  6. Fill a frosting bag with the white frosting with a 2A piping tip and frost the top of the 2 heart brownies.’I started by outlining the outside of the heart, then the inside, and then filling it in.
  7. Place any remaining frosting (I had quite a bit left) into a second piping bag with a 32 piping tip and fill in any holes.
  8. Then, top the frosted brownie with the heart-shaped French Macarons, strawberries (I cut a couple in half), raspberries, cherries, dark chocolate hearts, white chocolate hearts, and mint.
  9. Finally, sprinkle edible glitter in a few areas on the frosted Valentine’s Heart Brownie.
  10. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. You can do just one box/batch; I just wanted them to be extra-thick brownies, so I used 2 boxes.
  2. I used a heart cake pan that I’ve had since we got married over a decade ago, but this one (click here) is similar and comes with heart parchment inserts to make it easy to remove!
  3. I found it took longer to bake because it was a double batch of brownies, but if you do only 1 box/batch, it should bake according to the packaging instructions. I cooked it at 325 for much longer than the box recomended as it was twice as big as a normal brownie. The lowered temperature helps it bake better since it’s so big.
  4. Since I didn’t have the heart-shaped parchment paper inserts (mentioned in #2, although I could have made some…) I used a spatula to loosen it along the edges, then hit it a few times upside down to further loosen it.
  5. To make it easier to cut in step 5, I placed it in the fridge to chill. But then I forgot about it and didn’t cut into it until the next day. You can chill it overnight or for a couple of hours to make it easier to cut smoothly.
