These easy Garlic Pesto Dinner Rolls are a warm and soft addition to your Italian dinner.

Oh my goodness, our house smells amazing!!

There is something so extra special about homemade bread and the warm mouthwatering scent that fills the air as it bakes in your oven.

I used the Parker House dinner roll recipe with Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast as the base for these Garlic Pesto Dinner Rolls, and now I’m kind of obsessed with the ease and simplicity of this recipe.

You can totally make the original recipe (so good!), but I decided to give them an Italian twist by topping them with freshly minced garlic and pesto right before baking them.

I am super passionate about homemade baked goods, but I’m not sure if I’m more passionate about making them or eating them… Because I love both!

I know it can be a bit scary working with yeast for the first time, but I have 2 quick tips to help you.

  1. Be sure to add water heated to 120˚F-130˚F and to carefully follow recipe instructions. Always use a thermometer to check the temperature to ensure proper rising as hot water will kill the yeast. The water should be lukewarm, not hot.
  2. Make sure the yeast isn’t expired, as this is often the reason for dough ‘not rising’.

Super simple!

Plus, once your delicious baked good comes out of the oven, you’ll be hooked!

I have been making no-knead bread for a while now. I even have 4 different flavorful no-knead bread recipes on my website, and I know that having a good yeast is very important.

And since nothing tastes better than homemade, and because I wanted these dinner rolls to rise perfectly, I used with Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast.

Roger and I love to bake from scratch because nothing tastes (or smells) better than homemade.

I love mixing, measuring and pouring because it’s science with a delicious result!

And the joy it brings always makes it worth it. With Fleischmann’s 150 years of experience, you can bake quality, yeast recipes you’re proud to share with your family and friends.

Because offering what you’ve baked yourself expresses more than words can say. And people always appreciate something you made yourself out of love that tastes delicious!

I hope you and your family enjoy these super easy Garlic Pesto Dinner Rolls this week for dinner!

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Cup Milk (whole, 2%, 1% OR skim)
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • 2 Tablespoons Pesto
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, dry yeast and salt in a large mixer bowl and stir until blended.
  2. Combine milk, water and butter in a small microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave on HIGH in 15 second increments until very warm but not hot to the touch (120° to 130°F*. Butter won’t melt completely).
  4. Add to flour mixture.
  5. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally.
  6. Add 1/4 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed.
  7. Stir in just enough of the remaining flour (1 to 1-1/4 cups) so that the dough will form into a ball.
  8. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic and springs back when lightly pressed with 2 fingers, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  9. Cover with a towel; let rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Cut dough into 8, 10, or 12 equal pieces; shape into balls using your hands.
  11. Place in greased  8-inch round or square pan. Cover with towel; let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  12. Bake in preheated 375ºF oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. While the bread is baking mix the 1 minced garlic clove, 2 tablespoons pesto, and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Set to the side.
  14. Remove from pan by running a knife around the edges and invert onto wire rack.
  15. Drizzle the rolls with the garlic pesto and serve warm.
